Effie Michot has been providing midwifery care to women and their families in the New Orleans area since 2011.

Born in Lafayette, Louisiana, Effie lived in New Orleans for 5 years when she went to her first homebirth as a doula. She continued to work as a doula in Brooklyn, NY until 2007, when she began at Birthwise Midwifery School in Maine.

After four years of school and the blessing of working with several different midwifery practices all over the northeast, Effie graduated and moved back to New Orleans. Here, she worked with a local midwife until she got her license and then gradually built up her own practice.
